A Message from the Honduran Missioners
Working in Talanga, Honduras

Map of Honduras and Central America. Courtesy of the NY Times. In the news today (Monday, June 29) are reports of a non-violent military coup in the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa, on Sunday, June 28. The Diocese of Maryland is in the midst of its annual high school youth mission trips to the country, serving El Hogar de Amore y Esperanza, an Episcopal orphanage in Tegucigalpa, and the orphanage’s agricultural and technical training school in Talanga, located north of the capital city.

We are pleased to report that the 13 youth missioners currently working at the training school in Talanga and their adult chaperones are safe, having arrived in the country on Friday morning, June 26, prior to the changing political situation. The group destined for the orphanage on Saturday, June 27, returned to Baltimore after reaching Miami, the first leg of the trip.

Developing Goals and a Vision
for our Diocese

The Bishop of Maryland's Crozier. The Horizons Gathering

In order to gather input from throughout the diocese, Bishop Sutton is asking for every parish, mission and diocesan institution to select one of their members to be part of the newly formed “Horizons Gathering.” We are specifically asking that this person be a lay person. Every church or institution may select this person in any way they wish. In addition to the representation from all the churches and institutions of the diocese, the bishop will add other clergy and lay persons to achieve an even more diverse representation to the process.

The Episcopal Church Welcomes You!

A candle burning in the Peace Chapel of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Baltimore. In our Church you may touch ancient traditions and experience intelligent inquiry. It is an expansive Church, a loving Church, with strong ties to our roots as a nation.
